Your hearing health can easily be overlooked and any hearing loss can impact on the quality of your life.
Here are some tips for keeping your ears healthy and your hearing sharp.
- Avoid Loud Sounds: The louder the noise and the longer you’re exposed to it, the greater the chance of damaging your hearing.
- Use Earplugs: Protect your ears with ear protectors, earplugs or earmuffs and get away from the noise as quickly or as often as you can.
- Turn Down The Music: If the music is uncomfortable for you to listen to, or you can’t hear external sounds when you’ve got your headphones on, then it’s too loud. It’s also too loud if the person next to you can hear the music from your headphones.
- Don’t Put Anything in Your Ear: Attempting to clean your ears or sticking foreign objects in your ears will cause a greater likelihood of ear infections and/or injury to the ear. If you cause physical injury to your ear, it can result in hearing loss.
- Get Treatment For Ear Infections Quickly: If an ear infection is left untreated for an extended time period, more damage to the ear can occur. If you suspect an ear infection, see a doctor for treatment as soon as possible.
